The Yankees make yet another switch at first base.

The Yankees are coming off a series loss to the Miami Marlins, which included blowing a 9th-inning lead on Sunday night, encapsulating the Yankees' disastrous 2023 season.

Jake Bauers' performance on Sunday was an especially low point.

Bauers now has season averages of.217,.295 OBP, and.749 OPS after striking out five times in five at-bats on Sunday.

After a strong July in which he batted.258 with a.324 OBP, his August started poorly. Bauers has a.170 average,.231 OBP, and.550 OPS in 47 at-bats.

With starter Anthony Rizzo out with concussion symptoms, the Yankees have looked to Bauers to help fill the void.

In his career, the 27-year-old has played over 1,300 innings at first base, including 120.1 this season, while maintaining a flawless fielding %.

However, following one of Bauers' worst offensive performances of the season, the Yankees restored DJ LeMahieu

The 35-year-old is hitting.240 with a.315 OBP this season despite missing the whole Marlins series due to a calf issue.
