Police arrest Ja Morant's acquaintance in connection with a civil matter.

Davonte Pack, a longtime close friend of Memphis Grizzlies star guard Ja Morant, was arrested on Wednesday

for misdemeanor assault for punching a youngster at Morant's house last summer, a fight that has enmeshed Morant and those close to him in an ongoing civil case.

On July 26, 2022, the incident occurred at Morant's home in Eads, a Memphis suburb. Morant admitted to hitting Joshua Holloway, then 17, during a pickup game in a statement to authorities

though he later claimed self-defense, claiming Holloway checked the ball hard in his face.

Authorities first indicated that they were not furnished with Pack's identify, and Holloway's testimony only referred to Pack by nickname, according to the warrant, adding that Morant's statement to authorities also did not provide Pack's name.

The warrant noted that witness affidavits supplied to authorities referred to this man as a third-party'participant,' yet authorities were later provided with information identifying Pack as the third-party individual who assaulted

Holloway and knocked him to the ground. Pack's deposition testimony, in which he admitted to punching Holloway, was then received by authorities.

ack is due to appear in court on Thursday morning. The Shelby County District Attorney's Office, which consulted on the case, stated in a statement to ESPN on July 10
