Oprah Winfrey and Dwayne Johnson Have Established a Fund to Assist Maui Wildfire Victims

Oprah Winfrey and Dwayne Johnson have established a fund to give money directly to families and persons impacted by the Maui wildfires.

Winfrey and Johnson donated $10 million to the People's Fund of Maui. Every adult resident over 18 who was displaced by the wildfires in Lahaina and Kula is eligible for $1,200 per month from the fund to help them recover.

Community elders, leaders, and residents, including Hōkūlani Holt-Padilla, Keali'i Reichel, Archie Kalepa, Ekolu Lindsey, Kimo Falconer, Tiare Lawrence, Kaimana Brummel, Kaleikoa Ka'eo, Brian Keaulana, Kaimi Kaneholani, Henohea Kāne, Paele Kiakona, Ed Suwanjindar, Shep Gordon, and Jason Momoa, guided and blessed the fund creation

“Over the last few weeks, I have been meeting with people throughout the community that were impacted by the fires, asking what they most needed and how I could help,” Winfrey said

“I've been hearing their main concern about how to move forward under the massive financial burden. The community has pulled together in so many beautiful ways, and my goal is to help those affected rebuild.
