The San Francisco 49ers have made a minor roster change by releasing a veteran defensive end who most recently played for the Seattle Seahawks.
Darryl Johnson will be entering his fifth NFL season, but it appears he will not be playing for the San Francisco 49ers.
On August 16, San Francisco confirmed the roster change via the transactions wire, dismissing Johnson as part of an injury settlement six weeks after signing him this offseason (June 6).
The 26-year-old played parts of the 2022 season with the Seahawks before becoming a free agent in 2023.
It's sad for Johnson, who was injured less than two weeks ago and placed on injured reserve.
The 49ers never reported Johnson's ailment or any specifics about his recuperation.
Given that Johnson had to miss the most of the 2021 and 2022 seasons due to injury, another issue impeding his advancement in the league is not a good sign.
Furthermore, it occurred during training camp, when he was seeking to gain a roster position with San Francisco.
