Gauff wins the Cincinnati Open by defeating Muchova.
Coco Gauff defeated Karolina Muchova 6-3 6-4 to win her largest championship at the Cincinnati Open on Sunday and continue her hot streak on North American hard courts ahead of the U.S. Open.
The seventh-seeded American teenager broke the Czech three times in the first set and confidently served out the opener to love in her first WTA 1000 final.
Muchova, who reached the final for the first time, was erratic on a sweltering day in Ohio, missing a backhand up the line to give Gauff the break and a 3-2 second-set lead.
Gauff failed to convert three match point opportunities while serving at 5-2 due to timid groundstrokes.
Muchova's next attempt to serve for the title was successful, with her return landing wide as Gauff leaped up and down in joy.
Since falling in the first round of Wimbledon last month, Gauff has improved her record to 11-1
