Chris Jones's strike could end up costing him more than $6 million.

Former NFL agent Joel Corry explained in a CBS Sports piece in July 2021 why sitting out during training camp was no longer a bargaining strategy for seasoned NFL players.

Corry contended that the new preseason fine structure outlined in Article 42, Section 1 (b) (vii) of the league's and NFL Players Association's

2020 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) would make such a tactic unsustainable.Corry, on the other hand,

appears to have underestimated Chris Jones and his agents from the Kansas City Chiefs.

The All-Pro defensive tackle is holding out for a multi-year extension to his contract, which expires at the end of this season.

But it's going to cost him a lot of money.Jones' daily non-reporting fee is still accruing as of Friday, July 21

his training camp reporting date. As of Monday, August 14, that's 25 days at $50,000 a day, for a total of $1,250,000.

He was fined $1,083,333 for failing to report for Sunday's preseason game against the New Orleans Saints, which is 1/18 of his $19,500,000 basic pay for 2023.
