Carli Lloyd, a former member of the United States women's national team and current FOX Sports soccer analyst,
has stepped up her criticism of the American squad, which was ousted in the round of 16 at the 2023 World Cup.
After the United States advanced from the group stage with a scoreless draw against Portugal on Aug. 1,
Lloyd described the performance as "uninspiring" and "disappointing" during the postgame broadcast.
Lloyd isn't backing down now, less than two weeks after the United States women experienced their earliest elimination in a World Cup or Olympics.
"This wasn't anything that was scripted," Lloyd said in an interview with The Athletic on Tuesday. "
"This was a reaction to what I was seeing, feeling, and hearing from my heart."
"I believe I was the only one brave enough to say it how it is."
