Baker Mayfield petitions court for $12 million misappropriation.

In addition to competing for the starting quarterback position, Baker Mayfield might also have to deal with legal issues.

The quarterback of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and his wife submitted a court petition in Texas asking for details regarding a $12 million investment.

In order to determine where the money has gone, attorneys are requesting that defendants provide financial information.

According to the letter, "Petitioners simply do not know if their money has been legally and competently invested,

has been stolen or somehow mishandled, or something in between."

The document is not regarded as a lawsuit. The Mayfield family simply wants to know where the money went.

They filed the petition because, according to them, they were "denied access to this material."

The filing stated that it is "too early to know if a litigation is probable or even anticipated." "Petitioners are currently lacking the knowledge and records required to assess if their assets have been plundered.
